S29E16 Bears of the Last Frontier: Arctic Wanderers
In early November, as winter tightens its grip on Alaska’s remote North Slope, Chris Morgan arrives in the tiny town of Kaktovik. Here, polar bears endure a harsh reality—their fat stores running dangerously low while they wait for sea ice that freezes later each year. By early spring, Morgan joins hunters in Barrow, the state’s northernmost city, where they face challenges mirroring the bears’ own struggle for survival. As late spring arrives, he ventures into the Brooks Range, where vast herds of caribou stretch across the tundra for miles, drawing grizzlies that have awaited their arrival for millennia.
