In Anchorage, black bears are adapting to a new reality where city streets meet wild frontiers. Some have become so at ease with urban life that they now call a golf course home, while others scavenge through trash bins and bird feeders in nearby neighborhoods—habits that create tension for both species. Heading north to Denali National Park, Chris Morgan encounters grizzlies thriving on vast berry patches beneath towering peaks, sharing the landscape with wolves, moose, and foxes, plus a dedicated bear researcher and his crew. His expedition concludes with a rugged 610-mile motorcycle ride to Prudhoe Bay, where the Arctic coastline bears the scars of industrial development.
