Sürgün (2013)
On Büyükada, Eleni and Sedat, a handsome young Turk, have been inseparable since childhood. Now college students, they've secretly married, knowing her wealthy Greek father, Stavro, would never bless a union with a poor carriage driver's son. While Sedat urges Eleni to confess, she hesitates, paralyzed by fear of his disapproval. As their personal dilemma simmers, the political climate darkens—tensions between Greeks and Turks in Cyprus escalate, straining relations within Turkey itself. On March 16, 1964, the government, led by İsmet İnönü, issues a decree: all Greek-Turkish citizens must relocate to Greece, threatening to tear the young lovers apart forever.
