Jack has spent most of his adult life married to Maggie, working as a hand raker on the mussel beds of North Wales with his younger brother Dyfan and Dyfan’s three sons. He always assumed his own boy, Tom, would follow him into the trade, but Tom’s refusal to join stirs friction in the family. When Daniel, a transient deckhand, arrives and openly expresses his attraction to Jack, tensions ignite further. In this tight-knit, rural world shaped by church and fishery, Jack confronts an agonizing choice.
