Deng Zi Yue presents a surveillance report on Shi Chan Li to Fan Xian, who begins to question its validity. He decides to visit the exam hall to conduct his own inquiry. Meanwhile, various factions within the imperial court discreetly send notes to Fan Xian, each hoping that the name mentioned will be among those listed in the rankings of the Spring Imperial Examination.
