In Barbados, Simon reflects on the stark difference between the lavish beachfront properties of the wealthy and the modest homes of the locals. He then travels to nearby St. Vincent, where he explores a cannabis farm set against the fertile volcanic landscape and meets with the prime minister, who is contemplating the legalization of the drug. Moving on to Venezuela, he discovers how a nation rich in oil has been plunged into deeper hardship due to poor governance. Just across the Colombian border, he observes how a former guerrilla stronghold is being transformed, serving as a significant smuggling route.
