The tragic events surrounding the drive-by shooting of a teenager and the injury of a young girl unfold through various perspectives, including those of the deputy district attorney, law enforcement, paramedics, and reporters at the scene, as well as one of the shooters and his grandfather. David McNorris, the ambitious deputy district attorney, exploits the incident for his quest for power and media attention. Detectives Joel Stevens and Bobby "Fearless" Smith, along with Officers Ray Hechler and Tom Turcotte, navigate parental protection, traffic mishaps, and a near-drowning while pursuing the teenage suspects. Paramedic Teresa Ortiz aids the injured girl and assists the detectives with vital information. Reporter Andrea Little takes risks to gain insights, yet shows compassion by not exploiting a grieving man's pain.
