Harry is contemplating an expansion of the Coaching Inn and invites local councillor James Petherbridge to lunch, hoping for a favorable recommendation at the upcoming planning meeting. However, Ken finds himself in a tough spot as the expansion would require tearing down the stables that serve as the Texas Rangers' office. Meanwhile, ambitious TV journalist Linda West is relentlessly pursuing Petherbridge, aiming to expose him for accepting bribes to push through planning approvals. Things take a turn for the worse when it emerges that Petherbridge has just returned from a trip to Sardinia. Adding to the chaos, Ken inadvertently delivers a package of adult magazines to Petherbridge, leading to police involvement. Determined to clear both his and Petherbridge's names, Ken investigates, uncovering that the magazines originated from a shady club run by Sillitoe, a flamboyant character who reluctantly shares information.
