Following a disappointing kiss, Mike (guest-star Jeremy Lelliot) and Lucy decide to remain friends and help each other find dates. However, Lucy finds herself more troubled by the arrangement than she expected. Meanwhile, Matt is upset about John and Robbie's growing friendship, feeling left out by his family. Eric experiences further alienation as the family turns to Annie for guidance. Additionally, Annie feels hurt when Ruthie makes a poorly-timed joke after the twins affectionately call her "mama."
