S1E1 On the Air

Betty Roberts, fresh from Elkhart, Indiana, arrives at Pittsburgh's WENN radio station after winning a writing contest for an internship. She meets a colorful cast of characters, including the witty receptionist Gertrude Reece, charming actor Jeff Singer, and his Broadway star wife, *Miss* Hilary Booth, known for her roles in "The Rivals" and "Razzle Dazzle." There's also the talented voice artist Mackie Bloom, the strict yet clever station manager Victor Comstock, the sweet but confused Tom Eldridge, and the perpetually drunk writer, Mr. Gianetti. Expecting a smooth start, Betty finds herself thrown into chaos as she quickly learns to adapt, especially when Mr. Gianetti’s drinking becomes an issue during a live broadcast that requires quick improvisation.
