After another humiliating string of losses at hearts, Lucas tinkers with a fresh pair of glasses, rigging them to see straight through the cards. But the trick backfires spectacularly when his vision pierces everything in sight. Now he stumbles into walls and misses doorways, unable to perceive solid objects. Still wary of Vaughn, he chooses to dig into his doubts about the man first, postponing any attempt to fix his creeping blindness until he’s satisfied with what he uncovers.
