Frank finalizes his new contract while Murphy is busy working out her own agreement. When Murphy is unable to appear on the show, Corky steps in and excels at conducting the planned interview. Impressed, the network executives see potential in Corky and propose that he report from the Middle East. Meanwhile, Murphy receives a one-year contract offer—much shorter than the typical three-year deal—and she remains steadfast, refusing to settle until the network agrees to her demands.
