Amid escalating tensions, the Black Student Union takes a stand against the university administration, demanding their voices be heard. The narrative unfolds in three chapters through the eyes of Sharee, Iris, and Chris, each grappling with their discontent in unique ways. Iris vows to maintain her hunger strike until those responsible for a racist incident outside the Black Student Union are expelled, but her determination begins to take a toll on her health. Sharee confronts her own painful history as she seeks to gather signatures and mobilize more students. Meanwhile, Chris finds himself caught between impressing baseball scouts at an upcoming game and showing solidarity with his peers.
