Caitlin, an adopted child whose parents split during her teenage years, buried her emotional struggles in academic and athletic achievements. Her determination paved the way for a successful nursing career, but she often turned to binge drinking on weekends. At 24, she tried crack cocaine at a party and quickly became addicted to its numbing effects. In no time, she lost her job, squandered $60,000 in savings, and accumulated a significant criminal record. The death of a close friend from an overdose pushed her deeper into addiction. Now at 26, Caitlin is still using crack to escape her grief while her loved ones desperately try to intervene and help.
