Siegfried is taken aback when Grandma Clarke, who is typically warm-hearted, dismisses her neighbor, Franco Pedretti, the new shepherd on the estate where she works as a tenant farmer. As events unfold, it becomes clear that she holds Franco responsible for the tragic death of her son in Italy during the war, along with the loss of his wife during childbirth.
