Troy receives a frantic call from his close friend and fellow swamp enthusiast, Daniel Edgar, who has stumbled upon a troubling danger to the alligator population. The pair embarks on an investigation, gathering evidence that implicates a dubious individual threatening the fragile ecosystem of the bayou. They enlist the expertise of shark hunter Bill Stelly and veteran fisherman Tony Hebert as they embark on a quest to protect their region's iconic predator from disappearing.
