He had placed a 911 call, but remained silent while gunfire echoed in the background. Authorities sought leads to track down his killer, but progress halted for three years until an inmate admitted involvement, though his claims were ultimately unverified. After another four years of stagnation, a more thorough investigation revealed a conspiracy surrounding the murder.
