At the Lake Forest house, Norm is busy in his temporary garage workshop, crafting bracketed posts for the breakfast room's exterior. Steve checks in with project manager Jim Eimerman, who reports that a floor dip was fixed with a steel beam in the basement, the floor was resheathed with plywood, new windows arrived, a concrete floor was poured in the breakfast room, and drywall is up. A flashback shows polyurethane foam being blown into the walls. Steve and Heidi visit kitchen designer Eileen Thurnauer at a showroom near the airport. Back on East Atteridge, Heidi stress-tests countertop materials while Norm, Jim, and Steve install the posts and beam on the breakfast room's front section.
