This Old House (1979)
S18E18 The Nantucket House - 18
The crew kicks off the final Nantucket show immersed in water, gathering delicious bay scallops. Meanwhile, the house is in a frenzy as our master carpenter installs a wallbed unit in the library/guest room, while Richard showcases the stylish toilet fixtures and faucets destined for the new bathrooms. One toilet, charmingly dubbed the "Peacekeeper," flushes simply by lowering the seat. The next day, the crew finds the last coat of paint being applied to the restored front doors, accompanied by durable brass hardware designed to withstand Nantucket's tough coastal conditions. Lighting designer Melissa Guenet highlights the reproduction Victorian fixtures she's selected, and our host visits a lighting manufacturer's lab to explore how different fixtures can create various effects. Syd Conway, who grew up in the house, stops by to express his approval of the renovations made to his family's home.
