Maggie triumphs over Maurice in a bidding war for the town's dilapidated theater, enlisting Ed and Heather's support to revive it. Meanwhile, two professors arrive in Cicely to oversee Chris' master's oral exam, but they find themselves in disagreement over his dissertation. A young Canadian Air Force lieutenant shows up, asserting that Holling is his father, a claim supported by decades of monthly payments sent by Holling to his mother. However, this revelation conceals a deeper secret from Holling’s past. As the theater venture unfolds, Maggie feels the mounting pressure of her new responsibilities.
