Mike Monroe, the latest addition to Cicely, lives inside a plastic bubble due to M.C.S. (Multiple Chemical Sensitivity), rendering him allergic to almost all modern materials. After meeting Mike, Maggie finds herself intrigued by him. Meanwhile, Ruth-Anne's son Matthew, recently let go from his investment banking job, arrives in Cicely seeking refuge. As Maurice pitches the idea of transforming the town into a sanctuary for the ill, Matthew is drawn back into the world of finance, reconsidering his priorities and ambitions.
