Catherine is filled with hope for a harmonious future with Peter as their bond strengthens. However, the arrival of smallpox in the servant quarters causes Peter to retreat into his former self. At the same time, the connection between Leo and Catherine starts to deteriorate, while Georgina finds herself longing for Peter's presence.
