S2E1 Sharpe's Company

After triumph at Ciudad Rodrigo, Wellington—now a duke—turns his sights on Badajoz. Sharpe reunites with Teresa and learns he has a baby daughter, only to discover the child is trapped inside the besieged city. New troops arrive from England, including his old enemy Obadiah Hakeswill, the man who had Sharpe flogged for a crime he didn’t commit. Hakeswill preys on soldiers while fawning over officers and believes himself immortal after surviving a hanging. He tries to rape Teresa; Harper stops her from killing him. Hakeswill becomes obsessed with Teresa, seeking to hurt her to wound Sharpe. Worse, Sharpe learns he’ll be demoted from captain. He volunteers to lead the assault on Badajoz to keep his rank—but is refused.
