Brooke Whitfield, the pampered daughter of wealthy tycoon E.G. Whitfield, calls her father for financial support. Instead of sending money, E.G. dispatches Bill Tillery to bring her back to New York. Unfortunately, dense fog delays their travel, forcing Bill to stay in Brooke’s room. The following day, Brooke aids Bill in successfully negotiating a merger during a business meeting. As their feelings deepen, E.G. approves Bill's proposal for Brooke. However, Brooke is upset with Bill for making decisions without her input. They eventually reconcile, and she accepts his proposal. Meanwhile, Joe Freilich, at his nephew's bar mitzvah, spots Spengler, a former Nazi commandant, who claims to be Alex Huff. Joe confronts Huff at a stockholder meeting with a gun, leading to Huff’s confession and arrest by Justice Department agents. Meanwhile, Peter grows envious of Christine's close relationship with Mark.
