Before Tomorrow (2008)
Two families, cut off from the world, gather for a summer feast. The table overflows, and hope runs high, yet Ningiuq, an elder with sharp eyes, feels the ground beneath them is unsteady. She carries a quiet unease everywhere she goes. She and her grandson, Maniq, are left on a lonely island, their yearly duty to salt and dry the fish for winter. The work ends quickly. As the warm days fade, they wait, but the boat that should return never appears.
