Lucinha Araújo

Maria Lúcia da Silva Araújo, universally known as Lucinha Araújo, was born on 2 August 1936. A Brazilian philanthropist and former singer, her life took a defining turn through both her family and a profound personal tragedy. Alongside her husband, the prominent music producer João Araújo, she channeled her grief into action, co-founding the NGO Sociedade Viva Cazuza.

The organization was established in the wake of the death of their son, the iconic singer-songwriter Cazuza, who succumbed to complications from AIDS. Rather than retreating from the public eye, Lucinha transformed her loss into a relentless campaign for awareness and care. Through Sociedade Viva Cazuza, she has worked tirelessly to provide medical, psychological, and social support for children and adolescents living with HIV and AIDS, creating a lasting legacy of compassion.
