Edward Neumeier, commonly known as Ed Neumeier, was born in 1957 and has made a significant mark in the realm of science fiction cinema. He is most renowned for his contributions as a screenwriter to the iconic films RoboCop and Starship Troopers. Neumeier not only penned the original RoboCop screenplay but also served as a co-producer for the film, which premiered in 1987 and achieved remarkable success, grossing over $50 million in the U.S. alone. This success led to the creation of two sequels and various television adaptations.

Neumeier's career in Hollywood began after he earned his degree in journalism from the University of California at Santa Cruz and further honed his skills at UCLA's School of Motion Picture and Television. He initially worked as a production assistant on the hit series Taxi and held various roles at major studios, including Paramount and Universal Pictures.

Following RoboCop, Neumeier collaborated again with director Paul Verhoeven on the 1997 adaptation of Robert A. Heinlein's Starship Troopers. This film, blending satire with military action, garnered a mixed reception in North America but was celebrated internationally, receiving accolades like Artforum magazine's recognition as one of the year's top artistic achievements. Neumeier returned to the Starship Troopers franchise by writing and directing its third installment, Starship Troopers 3: Marauder, solidifying his legacy in the genre.
