Edwin van der Sar is a prominent Dutch football executive and former professional goalkeeper, currently serving as the chief executive of AFC Ajax. His illustrious playing career began at Ajax in the early 1990s, where he became a key figure in the club's golden generation and contributed to their UEFA Champions League triumph in 1995. After a successful stint at Ajax, van der Sar transferred to Juventus in 1999, where he spent two seasons before moving to England. He played for Fulham before joining Manchester United in 2005, where he secured his second Champions League title in 2008, making him one of only eight players to have won the prestigious tournament with multiple clubs.

Retiring from professional football in 2011, he made a brief return to the pitch in 2016 for a match with Dutch amateur team VV Noordwijk, where he had initially started his youth career. Over his time with the Netherlands national team, van der Sar earned 130 caps, holding the record for the most appearances until 2017.

Widely regarded as one of the greatest goalkeepers in football history, van der Sar's career boasts an impressive total of 26 major trophies, primarily with Ajax and Manchester United. Notably, he set a world record during the 2008-09 season by going 1,311 minutes without conceding a league goal. He also made history as the oldest player to win the Premier League when he did so at the age of 40 years and 205 days. His accolades include being named Best European Goalkeeper in 1995 and 2009, as well as UEFA Club Goalkeeper of the Year in 2009.
