Sally McNeil
Sally Marie McNeil, born on September 30, 1960, is a former American sergeant and professional female bodybuilder known for her controversial past and tumultuous life. Once a promising athlete, McNeil, alongside her husband Ray, a Mr. Olympia competitor, pursued a career in bodybuilding. However, the financial burden of their aspirations led her to an unconventional path—wrestling men on video for pay, earning her the nickname "Killer Sally." Under the guidance of videomaker Bill Wick, she became a notable figure in the world of female submission wrestling, allowing her to financially support her family while Ray focused on his bodybuilding career.
The couple's relationship turned tragic in 1995 when McNeil fatally shot Ray during a violent altercation, claiming self-defense amid accusations of infidelity and his alleged rage. During her trial, her defense argued that McNeil suffered from Battered Woman Syndrome, emphasizing her history of abuse. Her daughter, Shantina, testified to witnessing the violence, claiming she could hear Ray choking McNeil. Despite this, evidence presented during the trial cast doubt on her account, including inconsistencies in her statements and forensic findings that suggested premeditation.
In 1996, McNeil was convicted of second-degree murder and received a sentence of 19 years to life. After serving her time, she was granted parole in 2020 and now lives a quiet life away from the public eye.
