Chartchai Ngamsan

Chartchai Ngamsan is a Thai actor best known for his commanding lead performance in the 2000 cult classic *Tears of the Black Tiger*, a stylized Thai western that brought him international recognition. In the film, he portrayed the tragic outlaw Black Tiger, a role that required both physical intensity and emotional depth, cementing his place in Thai cinema history. Prior to that breakout, Ngamsan appeared in a supporting role in the 1997 crime drama *Dang Bireley's and Young Gangsters*, where he played Dum, a loyal sidekick to the character Puu Bottlebomb, played by Supakorn Kitsuwon. Interestingly, in *Tears of the Black Tiger*, the dynamic was reversed, with Ngamsan taking the lead and Kitsuwon playing his reluctant companion.

Ngamsan earned a Bachelor’s degree from Bangkok University, grounding his artistic pursuits in academic study. Though his filmography is selective, his work in these two landmark Thai films has left a lasting impression, particularly *Tears of the Black Tiger*, which gained a devoted following for its bold fusion of Thai storytelling with Western genre conventions.
