Douglas Axe

1 title Acting

Douglas Axe serves as the Maxwell Professor of Molecular Biology at Biola University, where he also founded and directs the Biologic Institute. He is the inaugural editor of the journal *BIO-Complexity* and authored *Undeniable: How Biology Confirms Our Intuition That Life Is Designed*. After earning his PhD from Caltech, Axe pursued postdoctoral and research scientist roles at the University of Cambridge and the Cambridge Medical Research Council Centre.

His scientific work centers on understanding how functional and structural limitations shape the evolution of proteins and protein systems. This research has appeared in prominent publications such as the *Journal of Molecular Biology*, *Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences*, *BIO-Complexity*, and *Nature*. His findings have also been cited in influential books, including Stephen Meyer’s *Signature in the Cell* and *Darwin’s Doubt*, as well as Simon Conway Morris’s *Life’s Solution*.

Through his academic leadership, editorial contributions, and research into molecular constraints, Axe has become a notable voice in discussions on biological complexity and design.
