Doug Marcaida is a renowned martial artist, edged weapons expert, and knife designer, originally from the Philippines and currently residing in Upstate New York. His journey in martial arts commenced at the age of 8, but it wasn't until he turned 16 that he started formal training. At 25, he found his passion for Filipino Martial Arts, which profoundly shaped his career.

A veteran of the U.S. Air Force, Doug served for eight years before transitioning into a 20-year career as a Respiratory Therapist. Throughout this time, he dedicated himself to teaching and refining his skills in Filipino martial arts. He created his own unique style, known as Marcaida Kali, and has traveled extensively across the U.S. and internationally to instruct first responders and military personnel in the principles of his art. His diverse experiences have fostered a guiding philosophy: “It’s not about how many you hurt, it’s about how many you protect.” This belief inspired his well-known motto, “It will K.E.Al” (Keep Everyone Alive).

Currently, Doug is recognized for his role as a judge on the History Channel's "Forged in Fire," alongside his appearances on "Desafio Sobre Fuego: Latin America," where he shares his expertise and passion for the art of knife making and martial skills.
