**Bridgett M. Davis** is an American author, educator, and independent filmmaker whose work explores identity, family, and resilience. She is best known for her acclaimed memoir, *The World According to Fannie Davis: My Mother’s Life in the Detroit Numbers*, which earned a spot as a *New York Times* Editors’ Choice and was named a Best Book of 2019 by *Kirkus Reviews*. The memoir offers a vivid portrait of her mother’s quiet ingenuity within Detroit’s underground lottery system.

Davis serves as a Professor of Journalism and the Writing Professions at Baruch College, part of the City University of New York, where she teaches courses in creative writing, film, and narrative nonfiction. Her debut feature film, *Naked Acts* (1998), centers on a young African-American actress grappling with body image and artistic integrity after refusing to appear nude on screen. The film premiered to critical attention and has been screened internationally at festivals and universities.
